Clean Eating Saved This Busy Mom

So you may be hearing the buzz words "clean eating" and not really sure what it is. No it is not cleaning your food before eating it .. lol that is what my kids think it is.

Clean Eating totally saved my family.  Not only are we feeling the benefits of what eating healthy can do but also it has saved money, time, and time spent cooking meals.

So what is CLEAN EATING??

Clean Eating is simple and perfect for the busy mom with a family on the go.  It is simply avoinding processed and refines foods and replacing them with whole foods.  Sounds easy right?

By removing the toxic foods you can maintain a proper nutrition, help managed diseases, and avoid developing diseases all together, lose weight, remove toxins, and just feel better.

Here are the basic's

*  EAT WHOLE FOODS - Whole foods are foods that haven't been processed.  The foods you are eating are straight from the farm such as whole fruits, vegetables, whole grains, grass-fed and free-range meats, low fat dairy products, unsalted nuts and seeds.

* AVOID THE PROCESSED FOODS - These are foods that have a list of ingredients that was added or used to make the food.  If you can't say the ingredients or don't know what it is put it back, don't even put it in your basket,  Some foods are ok to eat like whole grain pasta or natural cheeses,

* ELIMINATE REFINED SUGAR - Refined sugar does nothing for you but provide calories.  The natural sugars such as honey, maple syrup, or stevia are great replacements.

* EATING SMALL FREQUENT MEALS - This helps rev up your metabolism and reduce cravings.  You never get hungry and never feel deprived if anything I feel like I am eating more then ever and the pounds are falling off.

* COOK FOR YOUR FAMILY- Instead of buying expensive pre-make meals cook from scratch.  This has really helped decrease my food bill and time running back and forth to the store.  It also saves me a ton of time by panning out my meals and prepping lots of them in advance. A couple hours one day a week saves me time and headaches about what is for dinner.

* COMBINE PROTEIN WITH CARBS - YIKES, I said the C word... yes Carbs can be good for you, you just have to eat the right ones.  When you snack or have a meal, make sure the meal is balanced. Combine protein with carbs or carbs and fat.  This yet another simple change with fuel your body and help rid you of those feelings of hunger.

Turkey Meatloaf Cupcakes

Hello - Thanks for checking out my blog.

I like to make healthy changes in my family fun and interesting and they don't even know that they are healthy!   Who wouldn't want cupcakes for dinner. My kids love these and so do I they are QUICK, EASY, HEALTHY, and FUN!

Sometimes I get questions on if I make 1 "diet" meal for myself and another for my family...
My answer... umm ... NO!

First.... I am not on a "diet" they don't work I am changing my eating habits to healthy choices and why wouldn't I want that for my family too.

Second... I am super busy and don't waste time making 2 meals and this is a great meal to prep and pull out of the freezer and cook.

I love to adapt recipes and make them fun and healthy.

Chicken and Veggie "PASTA"

I have been trying to introduce a new recipe into meal planning at least once a week.  I am getting tired of the kiddo's saying "chicken again".

This sure was a winner and perfect for the upcoming summer.  My kids are now excited to plant some zucchini.  The "noodles" were super fun to make and eat.

I had bought a Veggetti a couple weeks ago and was excited to use it.
Easy and I love when the kids get excited about cooking and don't run when they hear it is healthy.

Here is the recipe .. the awesome part of it is that it is a freezer meal that I made up on my meal prep day and just thawed out and added the fresh veggies.

Fruit Kabobbs

I love making healthy FUN!
I made some "love" kabobs for a meal that I was taking to a friend and her family that is in the process of  having a kidney transplant.   It was a super easy way to brighten up their day and make food fun.  I just peeled the skin off the cantaloupe and honeydew and then made flat slices and cut out with a little heart cookie cutter. The strawberries were cut in half and then I notched them out to make them look like a heart. Then just push a wooden skewers.  I love uniformity but feel free to make up your own pattern or let the kids help.

Break out of the COMFORT ZONE!

I hear all to often these excuses:

"I am not comfortable with doing that"
"It isn't for me"
"I can't"
"It's out of my comfort zone"

If we all stayed in our comfort zone we would all be RICH, SKINNY, SUCCESSFUL, and HAPPY!

But notice the ones that are making a difference.. it isn't a big secret it is the breaking out of the comfort zone that is the secret.

Lets push past our comfort zone.

Let the idea a perfection go
Nobody is perfect – don’t expect it and don’t long for it.  Let go of that unnecessary pressure. As soon as you accept this you will find that you will lose the hesitation that has held you back in the past. You will learn to take risks where before you would have run.  With risk comes the chance of failure, but more importantly, a chance of greatness.  Failure is a given when you take risks, but the more you can embrace and learn from it, the better off you’ll be in the long run.
You will inspire others. What you do is noticed by others, whether you realize it or not. People are watching you, and what you do gives them an inspiring role model for growth and change.  This applies not only at work, but at home with setting an example for your children. We all have a teacher or someone in our lives who unknowingly inspired and motivated us to do more than we thought we could.  Taking risks and believing in yourself allows you to be that person for others.
You will have no regrets at the end.To me the idea of completing an exercise program or making a change in lifestyle was just crazy.   I never had any serious intentions I was looking for some way to loose weight and didn't care the cost. I took a leap of faith and I am now a transformation story how crazy is that?  Had I held anything back I would have been left with regret and uncertainty about what I might have been able to do had I just pushed myself.  Regrets come when we wonder, “What if?” yet don’t act. Don’t wonder – take the plunge.

You will define yourself authentically.Comfort is often defined by doing what everyone else does – conforming to norms and to the pressure around you. By pushing yourself into new areas you will have a chance to authentically define who you are, and break free of the limitations of what others think you should be. You are then far freer to shape your path  and your life as you truly want it.
You will gain control. When you step out on your own path, you get to live and work on your own terms. Eventually you may be forced to break free of the limitations around you anyway, so take control now and become the one who sets the rules and initiates change. Having a sense of personal control is not only essential for well-being, but research has shown that it lowers stress and increases satisfaction as well.

Your life experience will be fuller. Those of us who’ve been forced to change understand that what is comforting is often not what is best for you. Leaving your comfort zone can create a tremendous feeling of euphoria and self-respect as you learn what you are truly capable of doing and creating, which is far greater and more expansive than you ever dreamed.  Pushing past your limits helps you find the fulfillment, excitement, and meaning you have been searching for in all the wrong places.
If you never leave your comfort zone you are likely sabotaging your chances for lasting success and happiness. Don’t be afraid to try something new in any aspect of your life. You will find you are more resilient, capable and courageous than you once believed, and as you rise to these challenges, more exciting ones are waiting in the wings.
Ask yourself, when was the last time you really wanted to try something but you shied away?  Next time you find yourself hesitating, go for it. The reward (and the lessons learned) will be, without question, worth the risk.
