Beachbody On Demand

Wow this is AMAZING!  

I was so excited as a new coach to achieve Success Club and get early access to Beachbody On Demand this month and did it ever come in handy!

I have been traveling a lot this month and I am in LOVE with the new On Demand features.  I was able to have access to many of the top workouts that Beachbody has to offer.   I was able to stream my workouts over my laptop, tablet, phone, and smart tv in seconds where ever you have an internet connection you can workout.  I am never more then a click away from a variety of workouts and trainers.

Hide your SPINACH!

I didn't believe it so I had to try it. I have seen smoothie and shake recipes with spinach in them and how you couldn't tell that it was in it so here is my experiment.



 I added spinch to
1 scoop Chocolate Shakeology
 water
 ice
1 tsp of PB2
Blended it up!

Now to taste.... I couldn't tell that there was spinach in it.  I am open to lots of new things but the real test is the husband and the kids.... I gave them all a taste and they all reported.. TASTES LIKE A PEANUT BUTTER CUP.  
Spinach in Shakeology .... A SUCCESS!



Travel Healthy

This has been a big challenge for me while on my fitness journey.  It is very easy to loose sight of your goals when you are away from home and your routine. My best advice is to have a plan and stick to it:

1. Make a meal plan that includes your travel days and days that you will be at your destination.

  • I like to plan ahead where we may be eating out and know what I will order and the nutritional content. (stay away from anything that is saute, smothered, butter poached, any type of sauce)
  • Look for steamed, grilled, broiled, and always add double steamed veggies instead of potatoes.


2. Take healthy clean snacks that will keep you full and less tempted to go in and grab an unhealthy option when you stop to refuel your car.  These are some of the healthy options I take with me when I travel.

  • Almonds
  • Apples
  • Hard Boiled Eggs
  • My own salad dressing (to add to a restaurant salad)
  • Shakeology and blender
  • A variety of fresh veggies (nice to clean out the fridge too)

3. Don't forget your work out shoes and clothes. It is easier to get your workouts in if you have the proper clothing and equipment. Most hotels have a workout have a gym but I like to take my own things and do my workouts in the room. I always have the kids with me for one and I don't like people watching me workout. I know a little weird.

4. Water, Water, Water - remember 1/2 your body weight in oz.

5. Sneak in some activity site seeing or using the hotel stairs instead of elevator.

6. It's ok to have a cheat meal but don't over do it.

7. Relax and enjoy yourself and don't stress it

8. Limit alcohol.

9. So you fall off the "wagon" don't sweat it, add an extra exercise, additional water, and tighten up your meals and start over.

10. Remember to  HAVE A HEALTHY DAY!

Apple - Cranberry Crisp



   This is a super yummy, kid approved treat that is also HEALTHY!


The Filling:

4 apples, cored and chopped (keep the skins on)
1 cup fresh cranberries
1 tsp cinnamon or apple pie spice blend
3 tbsp raw honey

Mix together and spread out in greased 8x8 baking dish 

The Crumbly Topping:

1/4 cup of extra virgin coconut oil, plus more for greasing the baking dish
1 cup of old fashion rolled oats (not instant)
2 tbsp raw honey

Then add the topping to the top of the filling mixture and spread out. 
Bake in oven at 375 degrees for 30-40 min until apples and cranberries are soft.

When done remove from oven and set aside to cool a little it is delish if you serve warm!





Here are some tips to keep it simple and healthy-

  • Keep the skins on the apples it provides extra fiber and nutrients in the skin and also not so much work to prep
  • I like to  buy fresh cranberries when the holidays are over they are cheaper and freeze well.  Make is easy and yummy to add them to other baked or cooked dishes.

About Me

Hello!
Welcome to my blog!

I am a mother of 3 just trying to Have A Healthy Day!

I am a very proud mother of  Thomas, Matthew, and Julia.  My oldest Thomas was diagnosed with Retinoblastoma Cancer in his right eye when he was 6 months old. We had to battle that for 2 years and I didn't have much time to take care of myself and then wanted more children, when everything kind of calmed down with Thomas I had Matthew. Thomas then again got ill with a kidney disease Nephrotic Syndrome and had needed more medical attention.  I then had Julia when Thomas began to be more stable on his medications. Julia was 2 months old and Thomas was then hospitalized with a stroke and complications of the kidney disease.  As you can see I was not taking very good care of my self and I was stressed and anxious and the weight just kept adding up.  I finally hit my breaking point  on August 25, 2014.  It was my 13th Wedding Anniversary and I just want to feel good about myself. I was at my heaviest weight ever, I weighted in at 201 lbs. I sat right down on the scale and cried wondering how I was going to get rid of this weight and feel good.  I was so lost and desperate. I was holding on to the "baby" weight from all 3 kids and never really thought about taking care of myself and always had an excuse why I couldn't.


I was so lost because I had been on every diet, pill, shake,  and I have a basement full of exercise equipment that I bought in hopes that it would be the magic fix.  I would try it for a while loose some weight let something get in the way and then gain it back.  It was a constant spiral and I felt that I had reached a point of no return I was just suppose to me overweight.



This journey was defiantly one that was suppose to be... I strongly believe that everything happens for a reason and God has a plan.  It is really strange how I met my coach. I had contacted her and her husband's business for a donation to the fundraiser that I was doing for the school my children attended in March of 2014. They were so kind to give a donation to a person that they had never meet and weren't from the same town but they paid it forward.  My coach then sent me a friend request on my personal FB page and I began to follow her transformation and I had no idea what she was doing but whatever it was it was working for her. I never thought that it would work for me so I chalked it up to another failed attempt that I was going to spend way too much money on and not get the results I wanted.  She had asked me to join a clean eating group for 7 days.. so I did and I really like the small group and the great ideas and info that she had. In that 7 days with just her tips and information I dropped 7 lbs. Then I seen a post about the 21 Day Fix and how amazing the results were.  I messaged her about this 21 Day Fix thing and thought well it's 21 days so I'll give it a shot. I was probably her easiest sell because I would have paid anything I didn't even know how much it was until I checked it out.



I started with the 21 Day Fix and it had everything I needed in one complete package.  I lost almost 30 lbs in the first 3 rounds and was feeling so healthy and energetic. This is the first time I was excited for exercise and the meal planning was so helpful and easy.  


After following along and participating in several challenge groups my coach asked me if I would like to try coaching. I really had to think about it.. I am not a sales person and didn't want to push products on everyone.  After loosing some of  the weight everyone wanted to know what I was doing and how I could help them.  That is really when I had the urge to coach when I could see that I could help others that were in a rut like I was.  I am also an RN and when I had to stop working to put my family first I really felt that all that had gone to waste but coaching is a lot like nursing I can help prevent some of the complications of being overweight, help people in there time of need and so them love and compassion when they need it the most.
